Lucky Ducks

These past few weeks we have been getting a lot of things done for the return of students. It seems like getting ready is taking so much more effort than a normal school year with shields, measuring desk distances, and having to prepare multiples of tools. For things I would usually only make one of we now have to multiply by 15 to ensure everyone has their own so it seems to be a very lengthy process to make everything.

This one however was quick and easy. I bought some small containers from Amazon. One for the ducks and two more for candy of course.

Find here on Amazon

I then bought a pack of ducks which I first thought were going to be much bigger but turned out to be a great size:

From Amazon of course

I then had one of my aids use a label maker to stick a name on each duck and put them into the jar. I wanted to try using labels first so that I could re use the ducks every year. I am not sure if this will be the best solution or if I may have to end up writing their name on the duck so I will keep you updated.

I decided to make this to give a positive outlook on getting called on. By calling it- Lucky Duck the kids will instead feel excited and honored their name was pulled instead of dreading it. I’m hoping to instill a positive outlook on interacting with each other in class. Some of my students may be a tad too young to understand this but I think starting them off with this will only help them as students in my class for the future years to come.

I hope this gave you a good idea of how to put a positive spin on the dreaded name calling from the past.

Happy Teaching :)
