Grants for your classroom
I won a grant a few months ago for my classroom to get a busy board for all of my students to use to help with fine motor skills! If you want the exact ones they are on Amazon (of course). I wanted something easy to grab and wouldn’t hurt super bad if accidentally tossed at someone when a possible behavior occurs. I wanted to share how I find out about Grants.
I have written one every year for my classroom and have won every year and they have always been such a huge help for my lessons and my students.
1. Open those emails:
You know those emails that look like spam from your County Office of Ed that you always ignore, DON’T! They may be offering grants that no one seems to ever apply for and they want to help out their local teachers.
2. Your Principal:
Principals forward Grant messages all the time too. So in case you missed the email ask your principal if they have heard of anything in the area. If you missed it, put it in your calendar because they are usually offered every year at the same time too.
3. County office of Education:
Go to the money passer outers themselves- your local county office of ed. will be able to tell you what they offer and when. It’s also a great way to connect with the decision makers and make a positive impression on the people who may be deciding who wins.
4. Google:
Let’s face it, google can help yah find things super quick. Google your county and grants and see what you find. Sometimes there are other agency’s and companies wanting to help out a local school.
Don’t be afraid to ask how to get money for your classroom and have an open conversation of your needs for your students and classroom. Make sure you can back it up with data though too! If you talk to your principal they may have some funding from somewhere that could purchase the things you need to so you never know where the conversation could go. People truly want to help teachers you just have to sift through all the noise to find the places who can truly help you be the very best teacher.
I hope this gave you some ideas of where to start searching for teacher grants. There are some bigger ones you can find on Google that are no where near you and offer some great things too so don’t be afraid to widen your grant search if you are looking for something bigger. Dream big teachers!
Happy Teaching :)
