Slide Shows

Last Monday, I posted an email interview I did with my amazing friend, Gio. She really inspired me to step up my slide show game and I thought I would share it with you today. I have always used slides in my classroom when I am teaching a lesson on science or history (not my strong suites) but also for memorization of key foundational skills like sight words.

This year I tried to use my sight words slide a lot but have been lagging. This past week I re-vamped them to make them fun and very spring-themed:

The slides are also color coordinated from our school list that we use. Each group of sight words has a different looking slide so that I can keep track of where the student is.

This could also be something you can post to a google classroom in our time of self-quarantine. You can scaffold this to have any vocabulary you want the students to learn during time off.

I also got to thinking about if this is actually working. So for the rest of the school year I will be collecting data with all of my students and seeing how many of them grow by doing this quick 5 minute slide every day, 4 days a week at school.

I will then report back to let you know how it went and what the data looks like so stay tuned for an update on this blog!

Happy Teaching :)
