Did you know that 90% of a child’s brain will be developed by the time they turn 5 (Arizona State University), that is a huge statistic to know about!
I wanted to use this post to share a list of some great resources that offers a lot of information and ideas of how new parents and teachers to create an awesome positive learning environment that is also based on brain development research. Here are my go-to websites lately with some great information:
First Five: Talk Read Sing: Talk, Read, Sing is an easy to remember slogan to keep in mind of top activities to share with young children and help them fall in love with learning while growing their brain!
Their World Article: This article does a great job of breaking down what is happening in a child brain from birth to five in an easy to understand way!
American Academy of Pediatrics Research: This is a great researched journal article that does a deep dive into developmental milestones for 4 domains including, social/emotional, language/communication, cognitive, and motor.
Source kids au: For hands on activities and parental advice blog with some great ideas.
Reading Rockets: When it comes to reading, it can be a hard topic to understand and dive into if your child is struggling. Reading Rockets offers some great parent and teacher resources to scaffold information into realistic pieces.
These are just a few places you can visit for great resources, ideas, and information when it comes to helping our under 5 population learn and grow to maximize their amazing brain powers!
