Sensory Bottles

This past week we made a few different sensory bottles in the classroom and I had to share how fun they are!

The first one we made is a fun floating glitter one. To make this we used:

  • As much glitter as you want

  • As much food dye as needed

  • 3/4 bottle of warm water

  • 1/4 bottle of clear glue

  • Hot Glue Gun

  • Bottle

Directions:

  • Fill the bottle you are going to use with warm water and then the rest with glue.

  • Throw in some glitter and dye and put the cap back on.

  • Shake and add more dye or glitter until it is the color you like.

  • Use a hot glue gun to secure the cap and ensure none of your students can get into it!

Now for my favorite one, an I-SPY. To make this we used:

  • Rice

  • Food coloring

  • At least 3 small bowls

  • 1 big bowl

  • At least 5 small objects that fit into the bottle

  • Use Avery circular stickers - I used #5294

  • Sensory Bottle

  • Hot glue gun

Directions:

  • First you’ll want to separate the rice into a few small bowls and add some water with food coloring and stir.

  • Lay them out for a few hours to dry- it dried pretty quickly.

  • Find a few small items you want to hide in the bottle - I did 5

  • Take pictures of the times and use remove.bg to remove any background

  • Add the pictures to the Avery 5294 template and print out

  • Put the rice and items in a bottle and put the sticker on the bottle

  • Glue the lid shut using a glue gun to the bottle

I’m working on finishing up one more type of sensory bottle using water beads that I will probably share with you soon but the I-SPY bottle hands down has been super popular in my classroom. It’s a fun 10 minute activity to help students refocus so they are ready to work also!

Happy Teaching :)
